Kern 100 - Roll Unwinding Module

unwinding module is perfectly suited for use in combination with high-speed
printing machines or with cutting, folding and inserting systems. As a
representative of the latest generation of high-performance unwinding systems,
the Kern 100 has much to offer: An integrated five-roller dancer system serves
to buffer the paper. The pneumatic dancer lift makes loading the paper easy.
Intelligent controls are combined with electronic monitoring. A sophisticated
interface makes it possible to communicate with all types of printing and

Not only does the outstanding ergonomic design make it a pleasure to

bothers this unwinder. The core drive’s controls are electronically
synchronized via ultrasound paper-loop monitoring, thus ensuring the

the Kern 100 is also available in a “light version” – the Kern 105.
Roll Unwinding Module - Kern 105
“Light” is in fashion!
As a recognised trend-setter in the field of pre and post processing, Kern has
developed the Kern 105 Roll Unwinding Module – the light version of this
module’s big brother, the Kern 100.
What is really impressive about the Kern 105 is its simplicity and its focus on the essential: simple, fast and effective production in accordance with Kern’s usual high standards! Operating the module by means of function keys is simple. Paper is loaded quickly and easily by means of an automated roll lift. User-friendly handling and ergonomic design make work a simple affair. Nevertheless, there has been no scrimping with technology. The module features tried and tested Kern unwinding technology, an integrated five-roller dancer system to buffer the paper, electronic monitoring, and the ability to communicate with all kinds of printing and follow-up processing systems.
The Kern 105 Roll Unwinder can be integrated within all kinds of document printing and mailing procedures. It is superbly suited for use in conjunction with high-performance printing systems, as well as with a variety of follow-up machines, such as folding and cutting systems. Kern 110 - Roll Rewinder

Have perfectly wound rolls of paper long eluded you in your dreams? Then wake up
and open your eyes: the Kern 110 really exists! This module offers everything
that you could possibly want in an ultramodern roll rewinder: The precise
control of torque ensures optimal rewinding quality. The integrated paper buffer
is equipped with a five-roller dancer system. Paper tension is automatically
reduced by a timer-controlled dancer lift. An automated lifter makes it easy to
unload full rolls of paper. The module is electronically synchronized and
capable of communicating with all types of printing systems. Moreover, with the
Kern 110 you can take a big step in either direction, for it winds both
clockwise and anticlockwise.

A color touch screen provides for simple operation – and thanks to the
module’s outstanding ergonomic design and the user-friendly handling that it
affords, work with the Kern 110 always proceeds smoothly and efficiently. And
provisions have even been made for the future. At any time, the module can be
modified to form a Kern 115 Runwinder – an unwinder and a rewinder combined in
one device. Like all Kern products, the roll rewinder is part and parcel of

Kern 125 - Paper-Web Accumulator
Who likes being stuck in a traffic jam?
Printing and other paper processing machines are somewhat like
vehicles in traffic: not all of them move at the same speed. For example, if
your printing system puts out more than the follow up system can take in,
things will get congested, bringing your documents to a complete halt - unless
you position a Kern 125 in between. This paper web accumulator serves as a
buffer zone between two different processing stages and provides for the
continuous flow of paper. Two oscillating arms help to accumulate oncoming
paper. Then the module lets out a steady stream of paper, thus ensuring
trouble free production.
Time is money!
The advantage of the Kern 125 is that it allows you to run your systems
without having to interrupt and resume work repeatedly - and this saves you
time and money. The Kern 125 is equipped with synchronized controls, sensors
for regulating paper and loop tension, and an interface for communicating with
all other systems. The module's protective, noise muffling covers render it
safe and quiet, while its small size makes it a real space saver.

Kern 130 - Rotary Cutting Module
A cut above the rest.
We all want to make the cut but few succeed without a Kern 130.This
high performance rotary cutter utilizes precision scissor action technology to
fulfill all of your wishes. Because the transport of paper is adjustable, it
is possible to cut tracks of paper with or without pinfeed. Furthermore, the
advanced cutting technology makes it possible to vary the distance between
crosscuts dynamically while the cutter is running. Thus, depending upon
whether one or two up material is being processed, each sheet or series of
sheets can be cut to a different length. Very clever and not at all
complicated. The cutting distance is regulated variably through the reading of
separation marks or by quickly entering a different document size via the
color touch screen.
Quick and quiet!
150 meters per minute? That does not pose a problem for the Kern 130. But if
you think that such a high speed should create a lot of noise, then you are
mistaken. Even when it is running at maximum speed, you can barely hear the
Kern 130, thanks to its low noise emissions. And, as is only fitting for a
Kern, the exchange of information with other modules takes place discretely
via synchronized controls and a communication interface.
Kern 140 - Underneath Sheet Stacking Module
There really is such a thing as a perfect stack of documents.
It stacks high or low, just as you want it. But always the stacks are tidy,
straight, absolutely perfect for the Kern 140 is an incorrigible
perfectionist. It stacks cut single sheets exactly in the same order in which
they were printed so that the first sheet fed is always at the top of the
pile. How does it accomplish this? The answer is quite simple: Whether they
were printed one , two or three up, sheets are stacked from the bottom up. And
with a few movements of your fingers, you have the Kern 140 under control.
Operation by means of the color touch screen is easy, allowing you to program
and select the required paper size within a matter of seconds.
Intelligent and systematic!
Once the Kern 140 has begun working, it does not stop. Thanks to the module's
intelligent controls, it is not necessary to interrupt printing or other
production processes when separating jobs by means of a lateral offset or when
transporting stacks away. But of course the sheet stacker does not work
completely on its own. Every now and then, a human being must lend a hand but
since the Kern 140's user friendly height makes working with it a real
pleasure, who would ever hesitate to do that?
Folder modules
Kern 145 - Fanfolding Module with Job Separation
It always keeps a straight face.
A sink may be a useful thing in its own right but a sink-like stack of
documents is frustrating and can be utterly useless when it comes to
additional processing. However, it happens over and over again: the higher a
stack gets, the deeper it sinks down in the middle. Fortunately, there is such
a thing as the Kern 145.This fanfolding module creates perfectly flat stacks
out of continuous stationery offsetting or separating stacks at an odd or even
number of sheets, according to your requirements. Thus, the first sheet of
each stack is always at the bottom, and the need for including empty sheets is
eliminated. As an option, you can even obtain connected stacks together on the
output conveyor. Like other Kern module the K145 is able to run pinfeed and/or
pinless !You may think that all of this sounds complicated, but it is not. For
example, on the color touch screen, you can quickly and easily select the
format required. Whether it is a matter of processing one-up or two up
material, the fanfolder always produces straight stacks of best quality, while
enabling efficient handling and easy accessibility.
Very fast indeed!
The Kern 145 folds and folds and folds . . . , creating stacks that may range
in height from three sheets to 300 mm. Rapidly the module separates even the
smallest stacks from one another. Running at speeds of up to 100 meters per
minute, the Kern 145 leaves nothing to desire in terms of performance.
Kern 146 - High Stack Fanfolding Module
The first high stack fanfolder for the full range of pinless and
pinfeed continuous stationery!
The Kern 146 High Stack Fanfolding Module folds continuous stationery
perfectly into large stacks. This module offers everything that you could
possibly desire: It creates fanfold stacks of one up or two up continuous
stationery with or without pinfeed. It can automatically separate jobs at an
odd or even number of sheets; the intermediate conveyor belt makes it possible
to create separate stacks without interrupting printing. In addition, the Kern
146 is pleasing to operators for the following reasons: It is extremely simple
and easy to set up. The paper threads itself automatically. Via a colour
display, fold specifications can be selected quickly, and the appropriate
adjustments can be made automatically.
You can choose between two delivery systems: The folded forms can be transferred directly to a drop stacker, where they are set upright and then moved away on a stack trolley. Or the forms can be set upright with the help a tilting table, after which the whole stack can be turned over thus making it possible to process documents from A to Z, or from Z to A.
